The Sky Is Not the Limit Grant receives 4x more applications than typical annual foundation totals—signaling unprecedented hunger for equity-centered design
TORONTO, ON – July 10, 2025 — When Sheares Benjamin launched The Sky Is Not the Limit Social Impact Grant just two weeks ago, she expected interest. What she didn’t expect was a global phenomenon that would redefine how the world thinks about design’s role in social change.
In only 14 days, Benjamin’s Black-owned agency received 200 applications from changemakers across four continents—quadruple what most foundations see in an entire year. The numbers speak volumes: 3,350 website views (up 2,668.6%), 1,920 new users, and over 12,000 user interactions—all pointing to a global hunger for equity-centered branding and strategy.
“We’ve hit a nerve,” says Benjamin, founder of Bombshell Impact Design Agency. “This isn’t just about a grant—it’s proof that there’s a massive, underserved community of changemakers who’ve been waiting for design services that truly understand their mission.”
While many foundations receive fewer than 50 proposals annually, The Sky Is Not the Limit Grant attracted 200 applications in two weeks. The geographic spread reads like a map of grassroots activism: applications flowing in from Africa, the UK, Australia, and North America.
The grant provides up to $10,000 in professional branding, marketing, and AI consulting services. But it’s the inclusive philosophy behind it that’s striking a chord—favoring grassroots organizations over large, well-funded entities.
“Every application tells a story of someone trying to make the world better with limited resources,” Benjamin explains. “That’s exactly who we wanted to reach.”
The overwhelming response has inspired Benjamin to expand beyond the grant itself. To help applicants navigate the process, she scheduled a free Grant Information Session—but in another unexpected twist, the event sold out one week before the scheduled date.
“We had to cap the registration because of overwhelming demand,” Benjamin notes. “It just shows how hungry people are for this kind of knowledge and support.”
Grant Information Session (Now Sold Out):
Date: Thursday, July 25, 2025
Time: 8:00 PM EDT
But the movement doesn’t stop there. Responding to global interest, Benjamin will also launch a free educational webinar series, starting with:
Webinar Title: Design as a Force for Change – Turning Awareness Into Action
This session will show mission-driven brands how to use storytelling, branding, and digital strategy to turn passive followers into active supporters—skills that can help grassroots organizations scale their impact.
